Fine, the answer is No and you knew it all along. We are all slaves in some form or another, Period. We cannot govern our lives freely- society does. always has always will. now we of likemindedness have the ability to revel in our "uniqueness" but still we are players in this vicious cycle. sad to think we feel free because we have yet to experience the harshest form of slavery. but hey, let's dance...
You won't find freedom when you are dead because you'll be dead. It is far better to try to find freedom in life. martin wrote: The government's job is to protect you from other people, and to protect other people from you, NOT to protect anyone from themselves.
I think there's still a line to be drawn even when protecting people from others. The Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 along with other recent additions to the law, courtesy of New Labour, are the biggest infringements on our freedom for a long time. It, amongst other things, restricts our freedom to protest within 1KM of Parliament (plus military bases, animal testing centres, and anywhere else they decide) and it gives the police the power to arrest anyone for any offence without evidence and take DNA and photos. "For all but a truly minor crime, the officer is empowered, using force, if necessary, to take a sample of the suspect's DNA from his mouth, to photograph and fingerprint him and, finally, to take impressions of his footwear. Remember, at this stage, the suspect is just that - a suspect. He has not been found guilty by a court and, under British law, is therefore presumed innocent. And yet he has been forced to submit to a humiliating process as though he were about to enter prison." [Guardian, Nov 2005] They can literally forcibly bundle you in to the back of a van, take mugshots and DNA - just for standing silently holding a banner within 1KM of Parliament, read this Times article, Goodbye Magna Carta, it is shocking. Protesting outside of Parliament is now considered, by law, a "Serious Organised Crime". All of this to "protect us"? Yeah, right. It's time to boot New Labour out of office and try to regain our freedom. JUNGALICIOUS wrote: GRANTED, GOD IS A JUST MASTER, BUT WE ARE HIS SLAVES NONETHELESS
Slightly unrelated to my last point, but if God is omniscient and omnipotent (as the 3 Abrahamic religions preach), then that means that he not our 'master'. That may sound stupid, but consider this: If God is omniscient then he knows exactly how he is going to intervene in future to change the course of history using his omnipotence - this means that he is unable change his mind about furure interventions, therefore the future is already set out beyond God's control. This also means that our future is set out, and therefore we are also puppets without free will. The only way that we can have free will is if there is no God, an I believe that we do have free will. Anyone that believes in an all powerful, all knowing God, cannot believe in free will. I am going to do an experiment to demonstrate my own free will by typing the word "bollocks" at the end of my next sentence. If I do have free will, then this proves that the idea of a God is a load of bollocks. _________________ MSN: gav@ukb.org.uk AIM: UKBassRadio ...Catch my show every wednesday from 8-9PM GMT... |

Who says God speaks our language, lol ... maybe he rolls his eyes, wondering why we make it all so difficult everytime _________________ -SITH HAPPENS- |

lol yeah, he/she/it most likely speaks Hebrew but he/she/it should try to learn English really to that he/she/it can read my post and damn me to hell Edit: I should probably refer to God as he/she/it/them(or they) as Christians do believe in a triune God (which is kind of 3 Gods in 1 in a rather confusing and inconsistent way) and Mormonism is polytheistic, as are other religions - let's not leave anyone out _________________ MSN: gav@ukb.org.uk AIM: UKBassRadio ...Catch my show every wednesday from 8-9PM GMT... |

Once I saw a man who is thrue free on some video clip. His name is Bosko Drljic but he has scientific name Gandor. In 80's he was one of the best students in Sarajevo university. Until one day he decided to leave all that and go to hunt apokaliptic snake that he calls Nirdala... It looks crazy as it sounds, but I was stun after look all movie. Just type Gandor in google.(I think that exist version with english subtitle) and u will see what is freedom. |
