I was looking around and to my amazement found this article on the kool946 website:

http://kool946fm.co.uk/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=37&Itemid=1

Quote:
Last year the government asked the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) to review the classification of cannabis to recommend whether it should stay as a Class C drug or be moved to a Class B.

The ACMD’s report confirms that cannabis poses a real threat to the health of those who use it since:

Most of the cannabis around today is much stronger than it used to be
Some young people may ‘binge smoke’ to try and get as stoned as possible which could have a very serious effect on their mental health
Cannabis can worsen the symptoms of schizophrenia and lead to relapse
And they found that there is a probable, though weak, link between cannabis use and onset of psychotic illness

This is propaganda at it's worst and completely untrue! The ACMD actually recommended that the government should NOT reclassify cannabis as the evidence that cannabis poses a health problem is not strong enough. Also since cannabis was downgraded, its use amongst young people has decreased (and surely that's a good thing!).

The 'cannabis is stronger than ever' claim is also bollocks. What they mean is that herbal cannabis is stronger. In the past people didn't smoke herb as much, hash was much more common which is actually stronger than herb.

Is it good or bad? Leave it up to the individual to decide.
Not everyone drinks, even though it's legal. Nor should everybody burn earth.
There are so many factors to take into consideration since we all know the many uses of the plant aside from its "medicinal" effects.
I fear we will never see it as a renewable resource or benefit from its true POT-ential.
Now where did I leave my drink?

The latest analysis from the University of Mississippi's Potency Monitoring Project tracked the average amount of THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, in samples seized by law enforcement agencies from 1975 through 2007.

It found that the average amount of THC reached 9.6 percent in 2007, compared with 8.75 percent the previous year.

The 9.6 percent level represents more than a doubling of marijuana potency since 1983, when it averaged just under 4 percent.

BUT - Stronger cannabis leads to less inhaled smoke - Wink

Maybe the THC content in weed is going up, but like you say - USE LESS lol - that's exactly what I do if I get some strong weed, it aint rocket science lol.

The point I was making was that years ago, people smoked hash much more than weed, so the fact that weed has increased in potency is irrelevant when comparing smokers today with those in the 70s and 80s.

The TCH content of weed is around 10% as you said, but "the THC content of hashish usually ranges from 15–20%" which is clearly much higher.

This is the kind of thing that the Nu Labour Party does to manipulate facts in order to fit their deluded reality.

haha yeah, that's true Very Happy

I only quoted the THC content of hash because that's what was commonly used in the past, I don't think hash oil has ever been that widespread in the UK so if I'd used that as the example then I'd be just as guilty of using NuLab tactics Very Happy
