I'M glad to say that after 8 yrs of me bangin on about DnB/jungle/oldskool/rollin beatz n all that jazz
the part of somerset i live in is startin to get into real sounds
but when i first come here it was all trance and i was shocked to say the least
but what i want to know is..........
does anyone else HATE it as much as me
reasons:
1) my 2 yr old neice can mix it
2)there is only ever a perpetual build up and no climax just a drop back into some slow base line
3)people who mix it think they are superstar dj's
4) its wrecked the free party seen for far tooooooo long
5)the trax take the best samples from my youth and destroy my memories argggghhhhhhhhhh


feel free to add to the list or tell me i'm full of shit (yeah right) and why

It's a good job its there tho, coz if it werent then dnb might be more mainstream and would probably get ruined. We don't want Madonna doing drum n bass do we...

Well i know myself & terraformer used to listen to trance back in the day when tracks from faithless, vera cocha (spelling?) etc were out and they were wicked tracks with the most atmospheric sounds which haven't been matched in dnb - however since the emergence of filp & fill and others (u know who u r - Cunts) trance has died. They either get a hardcore tune and slow it down a bit or get a really good old school trance track and stick some bollox lyric over it (normally a women singing about nothing - but the words love, baby seem to make the up scintillating lyrics ) However sayin all that the decent old trance tunes r still nothin when compared to dnb. oh yeah and most trance dj's r extremly shit - terra's always tellin me they mix a track every 7mins - where as in dnb its like 2-3mins.

Trance used to be ok back when i was a kid (and before i found d&b lol), but then it was far more underground, no shit vocalists only powerful riffs n stuff (the first time all these riffs were used in any tune, now look at em getting used in many d&b tunes) mixed by pretty good DJs (were talkin like 97-98 tho)

As for mixing it, it can be very hard on vinyl (which none of the trance DJs use thesedays anyway) try doubledropping two of em without getting a violent mess

but the question was Is Trance a Legitimate Music? well it was before it got completely popped-up thanks to Scooter Flip + Fill etc etc (the murderers of trance lol) butnow its definately just crap pop fodder. Hope other genres dont get caught up in the commercial shit too and end up dissapearing up their own asses like trance, hope the labels take that as a lesson learned

can't really say I am up to date with trance... or ever have been. Mostly not my vibe, often due to the simplicity of the beats and limits of the genre. However some of the more breaky acidy stuff can be fantastic, Goa Gil has taken me on a wonderous voyage - very good indeed. It's always been a staple at free parties, along with nosebleed....ever more popular than dnb judging by the ratio of soundsystems. I must say I have enjoyed the genre very much on a multitude of occasions.

As for legitimacy - well isn't all music legitimate? Quality and one's tase are a different matter. In every genre there is good and bad music.

I know a lot of people that thought jungle / dnb died when it reabsorbed trance in the late 90's, turn of the millennium I guess - or even before. They are still crying about dnb.

sorry but trance was sh****** way b4 98 and DnB wich was jungle bak then was still a teenager was rockin the underground scene
please dont mistake acid techno or gabba/breakbeat for trance not even similar and that boring 3 beat mikxin they do in Goa wich ruins india 4 me every year is just exactly y gunz were invented
