Hi folks,

I'm Shep from Our Helical Mind. Not your typical Drum & Bass artist...

Our Helical Mind are a 2-piece Nottingham based outfit. We produce live Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Bass music & HipHop grooves with nothing more than an acoustic drum kit and a bass guitar (plus a couple of effects pedals!).
No sequencers, no samplers, no DJ's, no decks... and not a Laptop in sight! Real Analogue Electronica!

To give you an idea of the gear we use to get these sounds and textures without using software and decks etc, this is my live bass set up -




Our current Ep features the talents of Duke01 and dWyZaK tHe ElEvAtOr on the mic, as well as doing a number of live shows recently with the awesome Karizma (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXHPkDng-tE). We're always looking for other talented MC's to lay down tunes on future recordings or to put a live show together, so get in touch!

There have been a few pedal changes since that pic but it's pretty accurate

Certainly not too many folk do the instrumental thing, and it's great to be different. Somewhat harder getting gigs though as venues and promoters struggle to 'get' the concept. Thankfully, we always get asked back when we get shows!

Hey folks. In follow up to this I'm happy to report the release of: analogftw - The Waatu Remixes

Waatu is a respected producer amongst the Canadian HipHop/Electronica/Underground scene and caught wind of us through the lovely world of Twitter. A few months later we have this offering. complete re-workings of the 3 tracks from analogftw, including a guest appearance from Verbezerker (Waatu's collaboration project in Canada, featuring MC, Vig Vega). It's a pretty fresh perspective on the existing tracks.
