I always use Cubase to record my shows, used to use soundforge but it uses up too much processing power and caused glitches in my audio.

I use cubase to get a wav and then convert it to mp3 using dbpoweramp

I also use 'Lame encoder' for easy transcoding of various audio formats - typically .wav into .mp3

Get it FREE from lame.sourceforge.net/

But every week we use 'HardDiskOgg' also FREE to record AND encode DIRECTLY IN MP3 FORMAT to record all our archive sets.

Check out http://www.fridgesoft.de/harddiskogg.php

Also for a lot of great information regarding sound recording on your pc check out monkeyboi's own site http://www.derp.co.uk/index.php/How%20to%20record%20any%20music%20that%20plays%20on%20your%20computer%21

hope this solves any problems u might have coz it certainly did for us!

Big up ukbass family!!

Peace

Bit of a weird app, but its bloody tiny, and pretty easy to use.

I'd disable the Normalization.

One bug though: If u minimize it, it disappears to the system tray - don't open it! If it was recording it'll stop recording if you do! If it wasn't recording, it will start recording when you open it. Oh, and don't leave it going or it'll soon fill your harddisk as Terraformer found out. LOL.

Pretty small though, records straight to MP3, OGG, and MonkeyAudio Format. Whatever that is, but I like the sound of it.

You can get more info about it from:

http://www.derp.co.uk/index.php/HardDiskOgg

or straight from them at:

http://www.fridgesoft.de/harddiskogg.php

There's similar advice on apps and stuff at http://www.derp.co.uk. Mind you, it's been plauged with hackers lately.

I'm planning to write a recording app very similar to this, but easy to use very soon. With cuepoints. Should be interesting if I ever get any bloody time to!
